In the practice of Yoga, you are encouraged to use your body in many ways, but ultimately with the intention of drawing yourself inward. Mudras are powerful tools for accomplishing this. The term mudra applies to the use of hand gestures during meditation that carry specific goals of channeling your body’s energy flow. 👌🤞🙏

The ancient sages could intuit the presence of the five elements (space, air, fire, water, and earth) in the human body. Our hands are thought to hold energetic points for these elements and thus the use of mudras is a way of manipulating these elements. Within the hand gestures, there not only connecting principles at play but also freeing actions taking place depending on the mudra you choose. The Elemental Structure of the Hand🙌🏻🔥🌊🌬🌠🌍

Step 1: Find a comfortable seat. Spine extended long. Grounded into earth & floating crown toward the stars. Bring your hands together with your fingers interlaced.

Step 2: Extend your index fingers. Representing the sword of Goddess Durga( Durga & Kali are both manifestations of Mahadevi) slicing through and negativity and fears.

Step 3: Take slow deep inhales and exhales. Extend the exhalation 2 counts longer than inhalation. Focus your inner awareness on the exhale--release any worries, fears, obstacles from your mind with each out breath.

Step 4: Practice for at least 5 minutes. As with all medicines we should know the proper dosage for self. Notice the effects and sensations as you practice, become mindful of any symptoms from your system alerting you the dosage as been filled(light-headed, dizzy). If you feel a lot of energy pulsing in your brain-head breath it down into your feet, this is just congested energy. More Mudras to come to assist you through life's challenges! 😘
