Crystal healing is an alternative medical technique in which crystals and other stones are used to cure ailments and protect against disease. Crystals act as conduits for healing — allowing positive, healing energy to flow into the body as negative, disease-causing energy flows out.

The stones are placed on "chakras" or energy centers of the body. It is thought to strengthen the body by resolving ailments with various types of crystals which carry different rates of vibration. Due to the varying mineral content available in each type of crystal, each one will provide its own unique vibration. Crystals can be used for healing physical, emotional, mental and spiritual imbalances.

Crystal healing also involves the use of crystals and stones worn on the body or placed under pillows to ward off sickness, shed negative energy or absorb positive energy. In order to use crystals for healing, one can wear them as an accessory, place them around the tub while they bathe or keep them near their bed while asleep.
