THE ART OF THE MOMENT
STEAM.
You don't need to force anything.
You only need to make space.
This is a moment to slow down, soften + be with your body as it is.
No outcome to chase.
Nothing you need to release.
Nothing you need to become.
Just warmth.
Breath.
Your body.
And a little time without needing anything from yourself.
Come as you are.
This moment is yours.
ARRIVE.
Choose a private space where you can be uninterrupted.
Bring your water to a boil, remove it completely from the heat + add your herbs.
Let them steep.
When you're ready, carefully move the pot to your ritual space — or transfer the herbal water into a heat-safe container.
Place it on a stable, heat-resistant surface. Never place a hot pot or container directly onto flooring that could burn, melt or become damaged.
Then wait.
Let the water cool enough that the steam feels gently warm, never hot against your skin.
When it feels comfortable, position yourself above the steam. You can use a purpose-made steam stool, or squat comfortably over the container without touching it, keeping plenty of space between your body and the water.
You do not need to get closer to make the ritual “work.”
If squatting isn't comfortable or stable for your body, don't force the position. Choose a supported setup designed for steaming instead.
Wrap yourself in a towel or blanket if you'd like, allowing the warmth to gather around you.
Let your shoulders drop.
Let your breath become your own again.
You don't have to arrive feeling calm.
You don't have to arrive feeling connected.
You only have to arrive.
Meet yourself exactly where you are.
And I would add one very short safety line immediately underneath, visually separated:
Keep the water below your body + never sit on, against or directly over a hot container. If the steam feels hot, stings or causes discomfort, move away and let it cool.
STEAM.
Settle into your position and give your body a moment to adjust.
Notice the warmth before you decide what it means.
Notice the scent of the herbs.
Your breath.
Your body meeting the moment.
Soften where you can.
Maybe that's your jaw.
Your shoulders.
Your belly.
Your pelvic floor.
You don't need to force yourself to relax.
Let the warmth be warm.
Let the herbs be herbs.
Let your body simply be your body.
If thoughts come, let them come.
If emotion comes, notice it.
If nothing comes at all, that's allowed too.
Stay curious.
What feels good?
What doesn't?
Where do you soften naturally?
Where are you holding on?
Adjust your position whenever you need to. If the steam becomes hot, irritating or uncomfortable, move away and end the steam.
There is nothing here you need to accomplish.
Make space without deciding what needs to fill it.
Stay only as long as it feels comfortable.
NOTICE.
Before you move on, stay with yourself for one more moment.
What did it feel like to make space for yourself?
Where did you soften?
Where did you hold on?
Did you want more warmth?
More distance?
More time?
Less?
What felt natural?
What did your body ask you to adjust?
You don't have to explain any of it.
You don't have to turn every sensation, thought or emotion into meaning.
Notice without needing to interpret.
Your preferences are information.
Your boundaries are information.
Your body's yes, no, more + enough are worth noticing.
Take what you learned about yourself with you.
This moment is yours.
CLOSE.
When you feel complete, slowly move away from the steam.
Give yourself a moment before standing fully.
Notice your body.
Notice your breath.
Notice what has shifted — or hasn't.
There doesn't need to be a revelation.
Let the herbal water + container cool completely before you handle or empty it.
When it is cool, return to the space.
Gather your towel or blanket.
Empty the water.
Clean the container.
Put the room back together.
This is part of the ritual too.
You made space for yourself.
Now tend to the space that held you.
No rush.
No perfect ending.
Just completion.
Finish what you started.
Cool the water.
Clear the space.
Notice what remains.
UNTIL NEXT TIME.
Thank you for making space for yourself.
May you carry a little more awareness of your body, your boundaries + what feels good to you into whatever comes next.
Listen when your body asks for more.
Listen when it says enough.
Trust yourself to know the difference.
Take care of yourself.
Take care of your space.
Take care of each other.
With love,
Stacey
