SIP. — The Cacao Ritual

August 26, 2026

THE ART OF THE MOMENT

You don't need a special occasion.
You only need to be here.

A cup can be more than something you drink.

It can be a reason to slow down.
To make something with your hands.
To choose what goes in.
To notice what you need.
To sit with yourself — or share the moment with someone else.

There is no perfect way to do this.

Make it sweeter.
Keep it simple.
Add what you love.
Leave out what you don't.

Let the ritual meet you where you are.

This moment is yours.

ARRIVE.

Choose your cup.

Pour the cacao from your jar into a small pot.

Add 1/2 cup of water, 1/2 plant mylk, depending on how rich you want it.

Add SUGAR AND SPICE blend; cayenne, cinnamon and coconut palm sugar.

Warm slowly over low–medium heat, stirring as the cacao begins to melt into the liquid.

Don't rush it. Don't boil it. Don't let it burn.

Notice what happens as you make it.

The scent.
The warmth.
The way the cacao changes as you stir.

Sweeten to taste — coconut palm sugar, monk fruit, honey, maple syrup, or whatever feels good to you.

Taste it.

More cacao?
More sweetness?
More spice?
Nothing at all?

Make the cup yours.

As you stir, choose an intention for the moment if one comes naturally.

It doesn't need to be profound.

Maybe it's something you want to welcome.
Something you want to give your attention to.
Or simply how you want to be here.

Pour your cacao into your cup.

Hold it for a moment before taking the first sip.

Feel the warmth in your hands.

You've already begun.

SIP.

Take your first sip slowly.

Notice the temperature.
The texture.
The sweetness.
The bitterness.
What you added + what you left alone.

Let yourself actually taste what you made.

You don't have to love every part of it.

Maybe you want it sweeter.
Maybe stronger.
Maybe warmer.
Maybe next time you'll make it completely differently.

Your preference is part of the practice.

Keep sipping.

Notice what happens when you aren't drinking while walking somewhere, answering something, making something or thinking about what comes next.

Just this cup.
This breath.
This moment.

If you're sharing cacao with someone, let there be space for that too.

Conversation.
Silence.
Laughter.
Connection.

Nothing has to happen for the moment to matter.

Sip slowly enough to be where you are.

Let the cup take the time it takes.

NOTICE.

Before you finish the cup, pause.

What did you notice when you gave something ordinary your full attention?

What did you add?

What did you leave out?

What did you change once you tasted it?

Did you want more sweetness?
More warmth?
More time?
More company?
More quiet?

Notice what you chose without deciding whether it was right or wrong.

Your preferences are information.

Maybe the intention you began with stayed with you.
Maybe it changed.
Maybe you forgot about it completely.

That's okay too.

You don't have to turn this cup into something profound.

Sometimes the ritual is simply noticing that you were here for it.

This moment is yours.

CLOSE.

Take the last sip when you're ready.

Notice the empty cup.

The ritual doesn't end because there's nothing left to drink.

Return to the space where you began.

Rinse the cup.
Wash the pot.
Put away what you used.
Wipe the counter.

This is part of the ritual too.

You chose the ingredients.
You made something for yourself.
You took the time to experience it.

Now complete what you began.

No rush.
No need to make the moment more than it was.

Finish what you started.

Empty the cup.
Clear the space.
Notice what remains.

UNTIL NEXT TIME.

Thank you for taking the time to make something for yourself.

May you remember that nourishment doesn't always need to be complicated.

Make the cup you want.
Share it when you want.
Keep it for yourself when you don't.

Return to the things that bring you back to where you are.

Take care of yourself.
Take care of your space.
Take care of each other.

With love,

Stacey
